The end customer has two of my folding daggers and wanted another built along the same lines but wanted this one to have a theme of jousting armor. He sent several woodcut prints from an old book on arms and armor and asked for Ray Cover to engrave the handles. I made this free form dagger from Del Ealy’s carbon damascus with titanium liners, a stainless spine and titanium scales behind the damascus bolsters. I carved the blade and bolsters, and made the knife with only one visible screw on each side. Ray stated, upon completion of engraving, that this was one of the most intense pieces he has done. When I examined his engraving I found details within other details. Some of these details are so fine I could not see them without magnification, but they are there. Ray cut borders on the edges of the scales and scroll work on the spine. Inside the knife on the spine are our maker’s marks. To complete the project Nita built a leather box specifically for this knife.
